COPPER
TUNGSTEN

COPPER TUNGSTEN

80/20 Copper Tungsten alloys are suitable for projection welding dies where welding pressures are relatively high.

This particular blend of alloy is also used for electrical upsetting of nonferrous metals and low-carbon steel. The use of 80/20 Copper Tungsten is also popular when doing cross wire welding of wires and rods.

TELLURIUM COPPER

Tellurium Copper, also known as Telco, is a machinable copper often used for EDM applications and is frequently substituted for Hard Drawn High Conductivity (HDHC) Copper.

Although, the EDM cutting rate is reduced when compared to graphite, the material has the advantages of being easily machined and preventing DC arcing.

TUNGSTEN

SILVER TUNGSTEN

78/22 Silver Tungsten alloys are ideal for electrical discharge machining applications, electro chemical machining applications, and a variety of welding applications too.

They can be used for flash and butt welding die inserts, spot welding ferrous metals, and stainless-steel welding applications where the electrode requires a higher electrical conductivity than the workpiece.

PURE
TUNGSTEN

PURE TUNGSTEN

Tungsten, also known as wolfram [as it comes from wolframite] is both hard and brittle, which makes it relatively difficult to machine. However, the material does offer one of the highest melting points of all known elements [melting at 6,192° F], one of the lowest coefficients of thermal expansion, offers one of the lowest vapor pressures, and offers extremely high tensile strengths.

As a result, the material is frequently used in making high-speed cutting tools, heating and furnace applications, arc welding applications, armaments, munitions, and radiation shielding.

TUNGSTEN CARBIDE

Tungsten Carbide is one of the hardest materials on earth, boasting a nine on the mohs hardness scale. Only a diamond has a higher quantitative hardness value. The modulus of elasticity is nearly twice that of steel, making it very difficult to machine. Instead of conventional machining, products are typically pressed and formed into shape via a sintering process.

The material is often used to make industrial machinery components, high-end cutting tools, surgical tools, sporting equipment, and armor piercing munitions. It is also the most durable variant when it comes to electrical discharge machining materials with similar properties.

MOLYBDENUM

MOLYBDENUM

Molybdenum is a very hard material, but is softer and a bit more ductile than tungsten ~ which makes it easier to machine. And like tungsten, molybdenum is known for its incredibly high melting point [4,753 °F]. Molybdenum has one of the lowest coefficients of thermal expansion and is nominally less expensive than tungsten.

As a result, the material is used in applications where tungsten is desired, but its cost prohibitive.
